Dental veneers are a thin, cosmetic enhancement for your teeth. Patients choose them to protect fragile teeth and to improve the look of stained or crooked teeth. At Lepore Comprehensive Dentistry in Dunedin, Florida, we offer porcelain dental veneers as a cosmetic restorative option for your smile.
A VERSATILE COSMETIC TREATMENT
Patients choose porcelain veneers for a variety of issues, including:
- Chips and other imperfections
- Small gaps between teeth
- Oddly-sized or misshapen teeth
- Stains that won’t respond to professional teeth whitening
- Mildly crooked teeth
Because they are thin, Drs. Lepore and Dougherty will only remove less than a millimeter of tooth enamel, making them a conservative option for improving the look of your teeth and protecting thin enamel. Drs. Lepore and Dougherty can craft porcelain veneers for a single tooth or a whole row of teeth for a smile you can be proud of. Caring for your dental veneers is the same as caring for the rest of your teeth. If you maintain regular oral hygiene and schedule regular dental check-ups, they can last for 15 years or longer before needing replacement.

QUICK, COMFORTABLE RESTORATIONS
Porcelain veneers generally require at least two appointments to craft in place. During the first appointment, Dr. Lepore or Dr. Dougherty will evaluate your teeth’s health to see if you need to treat any existing tooth decay or gum disease. The veneers will be crafted to reflect your personality and maintain the elements you like about your smile while improving the parts you don’t like. Our dentists will plan your smile with the laboratory to reflect the specific goals you have in mind. Next, they will schedule an appointment to prepare your teeth by removing some of the enamel and then create an impression of your teeth for the dental lab. They will craft temporary veneers to mimic the design of your permanent veneers, so you can get an idea of what the final product will look like and discuss any adjustments you want before the final product is crafted.
Once your veneers are ready, you will come back into the office to have them bonded in place. Dr. Lepore or Dr. Dougherty will remove your temporary veneers and give you some time to try out your permanent veneers. They can make any changes to adjust the fit or look of the veneers, and then clean and etch your teeth to allow more surface area for the bond to hold. After the veneers are in place, you can resume regular eating habits by the next day.
